Gaming is a global phenomenon with people numbering in billions on Earth playing video games around the world. Its growth was quite hasty, yet at least one important question regarding how it impacts the environment as a whole has cropped up with time. With each of the new technologies that come out, sustainability in the industry also becomes more important along with their evolution. Therefore, this article discusses how gaming sites have affected the environment and the efforts for greenening the gaming industry.

Energy Efficiency of Gaming Devices:
The most evident environmental impact from the use of gaming platforms emanates from the hardware. Gaming devices such as high-performance consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and even powerful gaming computers are used to consume more power while running graphically demanding games. Gaming devices could use the amount of power several home appliances combined, hence emitting a gigantic carbon footprint in case they run for a longer time.
